Jesus on the shore

Today's Gospel had a little line that struck me: that it was "just before dawn, the disciples saw Jesus on the shore, but they did not know it was Jesus." Just before dawn, after they had tried unsuccessfully all night to catch some fish. So, in the midst of failure, and before any hint of light. They saw Jesus. But they did not know him.
How many times does this happen to us?

This is why the Benedictines have a good thing going when they receive ALL visitors as if they were Christ, isn't it? Isn't that what we should be looking for in everyone we meet?

It is the only way I can get through the day dealing with some of the crabby people I work with...believe me, it isn't easy trying to think of them as Jesus in disguise!
