So last Friday things kind of perked up around here when a New York Times article online featured our Sister Theresa Aletheia (of #mementomori fame) and then must have done well enough to put her on the front page of the Grey Lady's Saturday print edition.
I think that Sister Aletheia (who took inspiration from our Founder, who was just following a long line of saints) was preparing people for the many jolts the pandemic would bring, when loss after loss would cause them to question the meaning of life. In the light of eternity, symbolized by the decrepitude of the grave, just what is the value of my dream job, or the praise I might be looking for from "that" person or group? A lot of people are coming out of the pandemic (those who can) with a new set of values after coming face to face with death.
