That's right! I got the call from Mother General two weeks ago, asking if I would be willing (willing?!) to go to Rome in August to do some simultaneous translation (I love doing simultaneous translation!) for a spirituality pilgrimage to key places in our community's history: Rome, of course, with its Pauline sites; Assisi and Pisa (just because) and our home city of Alba in the gastronomic paradise of Piemonte--to be present on location on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Pauline Family!I kind of kept all this quiet (even though I wanted to do the happy dance all over London) until the superior here let the sisters know--not a good thing in community when the sisters find things out on Facebook--but now you can thank the Lord with me for the grace to participate in the centennial in such a concrete way.
Send your special intentions to me via the comments box--I won't publish them if you tell me not to--and I will deliver them to Sts. Peter and Paul, St. John Paul and St. John XXIII; Blessed James Alberione; Venerable Mother Thecla Merlo; Venerable Mother Scholastic Rivata; Blessed Timothy Giaccardo; Venerable Maggiorino Vigolungo; St. Francis and St. Clare and any other intercessors I cross paths with along the way.
One thing I might not be able to do is see Pope Francis (unless I can slip away for the Angelus on the one Sunday I'll be in Rome: how about you pray for that little bitty intention?).

You must really be embarrassed to "forget dear Brother Borello" if you posted it four times! BTW, don't let any self-respecting Pauline Cooperator hear you say a visit to Pisa is "just because." Besides being the home of the Apostoline, it is the see of the late Cardinal Pietro Maffi, one of the earliest Cooperators and a good friend of Fr. Alberione. He's the one who started the National Society of the Good Press, which in Alba morphed into the Association of Pauline Cooperators. He's also the one who lit a fire under Alberione's feet, telling him that if he (Alberione) didn't start a congregation dedicated to the good press, he would! His tomb is located in the cathedral of Pisa. I don't see where I can post a photo here; otherwise, I would. Now you know. He loves you anyway....
I repent in sackcloth and ashes and promise that if I am able (if I am free enough of translation duties in Pisa) I will pay a visit of respect and reparation at the tomb of said Eminence.
Please pray for "freedom of press" for Catholic media and secular media and in a special way, for the press/media, to be discerning and fearless in its reportage. These are times when the press seems to play to the gallery and media/press pay obeisance to authorities at the expense of factual news.
