Very dramatic. He couldn't have known his words reflected perfectly the Pro-life position in the face of the carnage of 300,000 abortions per year in the US alone.
In this new media age, anyone can take our words and repurpose them, as has been done with the President's words in this case. He is not, by any stretch of the imagination, pro-life. As an Illinois legislator, he voted to protect partial-birth abortion.
I hope to God no parents of a child shot down at Sandy Hook ever has to see their dear little one's death so callously co-opted by a movement that claims to RESPECT LIFE. I get what the video is trying to do - and with no context it is indeed quite powerful - but knowing why those words were spoken lends the whole thing a pallor of horror at gross misappropriation of someone else's tragedy.
I, too, see and understand your point of view; was hesitant to retweet the video because of it. However, there is the part of me that also sees how good can come from bad...how God can use A Cross for His Glory.
This proves what I have always believed: Pro-choice people believe in the sanctity of life, they are just tragically misguided in their application of it.

I am quite surprised. I thought he was for abortion?

Absolutely not manipulative. Unless truth is manipulative. The real scandal is the callousness and indifference with which the unborn are treated.
Dear Nicole,

His Peace and Grace be with us all...

By their fruits, you shall know them.
