I'm back in Chicago, with about 200 photos... so you get to share the love. This was the first "non-traditional" wedding I've ever been to. (When they are ready for the sacrament, I have a friend who is a priest in the diocese where they will reside in Evangeline Parish; he'll take them through the whole process. In God's good time.)
Jane (holding the umbrella) was one half of our family's Katrina wedding miracle.
Nell (at Mom's house) with her soon-to-be stepdaughter. (Is it me, or did Nell get a disproportionate share of the "good looking" genes?)
The judge was my brother's former girlfriend. Come to think of it, the hostess of the ceremony and reception was my brother's former girlfriend, too! (And now she's my sister's sister-in-law!)
Here's the new family.

sweet. very sweet.
(and you are just as beautiful)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Sr Anne they look so happy it an answer to my prayer. Sr Helena kinda let slip where you were during TOB and of course I missed you there hahahaha BLESSING TO ALL :-)
What a joy for this mom to have all of her children, grandchildren (save for one at Fordham) and great grandchild present for this beautiful occasion. I am thrilled with my new son and two more precious grandchildren. In a sense I am a blessed mother.
I have a question! Since is not a religious celebration, how do you that they will get married by church? Did they tell you? Should a nun be a celebration where couples are not getting married by the church? What kind of message are you sending f we believe in a sacred marriage?
Well, anonymous, since the bride is my sister, I know the situation well enough to recognize that this is a positive step for her (as Fr. Benedict Groeschel says, it's important for people to "take the next good step"). For my sister, this could be the next step to returning to a fully Catholic sacramental life. I hope so. That (and the fact that she is, after all, my sister!) is why I was there.
Let him who is without sin among you cast the first stone (sic)
In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.
God bless you Sister for being so wise.
Thank you anonymous for your comment. I am in full accord with your observation and wisdom.
I've known Pokey since the day he was born. He is a lovable man, without a mean bone in his body. I've never seen him happier. Nell is a beautiful woman and I wish them all the best. Thank you for posting the pictures.
Carla, I love Pokey as a son and he and their children are part and parcel of our family. I have never known Nell to be happier.
(Their mother and grandmother) wf
