'Tis the Season?

Macy's has had their Christmas display up since just after Labor Day. Am I alone in wondering what happened to, you know, Halloween and all before the trees and ornaments went up?

What is going through my mind when I read about the Christmas display is 'pure craziness'--snow covered tree decor in the middle of one of the warmest Chicago marathons? Maybe someone cut Macy's outdoor displays budget and the decorations have to last several seasons.

The stores down seem to be skipping Halloween and Thanksgiving as well. It's commercialism--the stores make so much money during Christmas that they're trying to extend the season, I mean the opportunities for shopping. I don't know if there's much actual "Christmas" at Macy's...
