At Loose in the Loop

It sounds like the start of a lame joke: "This coyote walks into the downtown sandwich shop..."
Only it happened, just a few blocks from here. In downtown Chicago. At a Quiznos. And from what I hear, it is the third such event in a month. Fortunately, our downtown coyotes aren't as big as the ones we have at the motherhouse in Boston. (I am told that the Boston coyotes interbred with wolves.) But I still really don't want to run into one.

A cat's piercing screams awoke my daughter and her golden retriever from a sound sleep...a trip to the window by the two of them revealed the figure of a coyote walking away from a horrible scene. The cat was not hers. Austin, Texas

A similar thing happened to me when my dachschund came across a free-roaming hamster...

When I was up at the Motherhouse in Boston, the other sisters kept trying to scare us by telling us stories about the huge coyotes around the convent. It was kind of just to warn us not to go on long walks by our selves, but it was scary just to hear about them!
I certainly wouldn't want to run into one!
