great stuff!

Oh, we got beat to the punch in this project, but here is a fabulous series of short videos responding to a number of issues raised by the Da Vinci Code, hosted by the rector of the "Temple Church" in London.

I think that this bloke is having a bet each way. He is a showman and I bet his sermons are riveting. He carefully omits some of the most obvious refutations of the novel.

1. The gnostic gospels were written 100 plus years after the canonical gospels.

2. There is no Gospel of Mary Magdalene, there is a Gospel of Mary.

3. He says that the question of whether Jesus was married is 'an open question .' He does not mention the Fathers of the Church e.g. Polycarp and Ignatius who surely would have mentioned if Jesus was married.

4. He says that in the gnostic gospels the spirit was a woman. The gnostics hated women, the bearers of the seed, and in one of the gnostic gospels Jesus is supposed to have said that for a woman to enter heaven she must make herself man.

Thanks for a solid critique! I have to confess, I only watched two of the clips, and judged the whole from those.

Wow… if the Catholic Church had even put HALF of the energy they’re putting into bashing some guy’s silly book, towards the problem of priests raping little kids, I might care about what they (and you) have to say on this. Until then, to me, catholicism is just organized and sanctioned child molestation.

I’ll check back in with you guys when you get your priorities straight.

Good luck.

Just a little angry, Anonymous? "...organized and sanctioned child molestation" is a grossly inaccurate and global indictment of the entire Church for the actions of a very few of its members. Yes, those individuals are sick and twisted, and those who colluded with them are just as guilty. But you must admit that pedophiles are not relegated solely to the confines of parish rectories. I think you are projecting your anger and fears related to some other hurts in your life onto the Catholic Church. How convenient for you to have a scapegoat.---harv681
