Cold Feet on Ash Wednesday

Okay, you're probably expecting something somber and pious for Ash Wednesday, and you're not going to get it in this post. Maybe later. I just thought this was rather comical and suitable for Ash Wednesday in an offbeat way.
As you know, my birthday is Halloween. And one year for my birthday, the community surprised me with a little bundle of novelty socks (no kidding!): black socks with candy corn; socks with orange cats; black socks with little skeletons... I loved them. And they get a lot of use (even outside the Halloween season), because I wear socks every night. Can't sleep with cold feet, you know.
So which socks did I wear for Ash Wednesday? Hint: Dust you are and to dust you shall return.

I don't have any fun socks, but I do have a fun story. The hospital held services for distribution of ashes throughout the day, and boy were they generous! I had a solid mass of black particles on my forehead extending over 2 inches in diameter! One of my patients saw the ashes (you couldn't not see them) and became visibly upset; she commented that she was "so disappointed to have missed her ashes." I told her that I had plenty to spare and that she was welcome to some of mine. We rubbed our foreheads together there in the operating room. I don't know how "official" an ash distribution it was, but she just beamed.---harv681

Skeletons???? That's so funny!!! I love "fun socks." Today I have on my Monkey socks! I don't know why! (The hint you gave was very cool by the way!)

Cute entry!!!! i love those types of socks!!! i honestly dont like the socks that are made for certain holidays because that seems to be the only time you could wear them....family gets me the ones of care Bears on them or with pooh or tigger. So did you wear the ones with the skeletons on them??? still curious!!!!!
