Well, no coyotes tonight--just the #172 bus roaring down Michigan Avenue. Let me tell you, that is an improvement! Last night again I was awakened by the coyotes. I analzyed the sounds a bit: first there is a long solo call (Ar-ar-ar-aroooooooooooooo). It is creepy because the vocal quality seems like a woman's. A bit like that voice that open the show "Cold Case" (or did last year when I watched it). Then the rest of the pack joins in with little yips and yelps. It lasts about 45 seconds, and then they all quiet down!
Prayers for a safe trip to Midway and downtown, please!
And prayers for the conversion of those minds and hearts bent on using terror to achieve their political goals.

Sometimes when I hear the coyotes it sounds like they've pounced on some prey because of the pitiful squeals of some poor animal.
Hello Sister!
Just wondering...How did you come up with your blogger name- if you don't mind.Is it one of Sr Lorraine's Greek words? I love it but I can't pronounce it.
Yes, my blogger name, XAIPE, if you put it in the Symbol font, is Greek. In fact, it is the first word of the Angelic Salutation (Hail, Mary!). In our letters it would be spelled "chaire" and pronounced hkh-EYE-ray. It means "Rejoice" (second person singular imperative) and was the typical salutation in the Greco-Roman world. St. Paul uses it a lot in the second person plural.
Wow! I think it has a neat origin and meaning. Thanks for sharing.
I remeber when I was in Boston, at the convent, I heard Coyotes for the first time! Since I live in MD, I don't hear Coyotes very often. It was kind of creepy! I think if Sr. Margaret Michael hadn't warned me about them I would have totally freaked out!
