That's the "Pritzker Pavillion," the outdoor music theater in Millennium Park. It was designed by Frank Ghery (not sure about how to spell that), and the acoustics are incredible. The speakers (and spotlights) are held up with an ornamental kind of "grid" over the main lawn (the picnic blanket area). The lawn is, I believe, the size of three football fields. In the front there are orchestra seats for the "paying customers." You can tell where we were situated!

I love Chicago ( I ive here too), but I suspect Millenium Park will be an eyesore inthe future..too much metal. It will look like something out of Planet of The Apes, and all future generations will think we had a God named Oprah.

As much as I like the big ideas embodied in the "Bean" and in the bandshell, I was sorry to see that blank expanse of grass disappear. It gave a casual backyard to the city that's gone now.
